Rev. Dr. Sandra Benton Plasters was appointed to serve as the pastor of St. George’s United Methodist Church on July 1, 2020. Over the past 25 years, Sandi has served in a variety of pastoral appointments including her most recent appointment as pastor of Epworth United Methodist Church. She has served churches in the Harrisonburg, Charlottesville, and Norfolk areas. She has served in rural, suburban, and urban settings.
Sandi is a Virginia native, born and raised in Virginia Beach. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1992 with a BA in political science. She then went on to graduate with a Masters of Divinity from Wesley Theological seminary in 1995. During her time at Wesley she was an exchange student in
Belfast, Northern Ireland. Sandi then went back to school to study church leadership and received a Doctorate of Ministry in 2011.
She is married to Rev. Mike Plasters. They have a daughter, Hannah, as well as two well-loved, even if not well behaved, dogs, Cricket and Gracie.
